When can you log actual IFR time?

If the transition from IMC to VMC is after FAF.

How to log simulator time?

When logging simulator time, only log Simulated Flight, Simulated Instrument and Dual Given / Dual Received. Do NOT log Total Time, PIC or other fields.

To log on foreflight, create a new Logbook Aircraft, with one of the Equipment Type:

• Full Flight Simulator (FFS)
• Flight Training Device (FTD)
• Basic Aircraft Training Device (BATD)
• Advanced Aviation Training Device (AATD)

The simulator must be FAA approved. You cannot log simulator time flying MSFS at home.
